Forest School Kit Programmes

The Cluster Group is able to offer two programmes to help forest school groups:
• a Waterproof Lending Service
• a Kit Award Scheme

These are open to any setting or practitioner in Staffordshire wanting to run their own Forest School sessions, with a qualified Forest School Leader or person working towards their qualification.

The programmes have been made possible thanks to an award from International Power’s Flagship Fund – International Power owns Rugeley Power Station and has promoted Forest Schools in Staffordshire for a number of years via it’s education programme as well as through its support to the local cluster group.

Waterproof Lending Service
The objective of the loan is to give forest schools the opportunity to try out the waterproofs before they go ahead and undertake the financial commitment of buying their own.

Waterproofs are available for loan on a termly basis. It may be possible to extend a loan subject to demand and availability.

A £30 deposit is required on receipt of loaned items which will be returned following the satisfactory return of the loaned items.

For more information please look at the attached flyer.

Kit Award Scheme
There are two types of kit available for groups or practitioners to apply for – Fire Kits and Tool Kits. Please note that as of February 2013 all the Tool Kits have been awarded and you may now only apply for the FIRE KIT ONLY. To apply groups/practitioners will need to submit an application which should include the submission of a case study on their forest school (which we would like to post up on the cluster group website) as well as other documentation that forest school leaders complete as part of their training. If you are a new practitioner and have not run any programmes yet then please outline what forest school activity you are intending to do.

For more information please check out the information flyer. To download an application form please click here. For a word copy of the case study form please download here.

If you have any questions about either of the schemes please contact Katie Busfield at Rugeley Power Station on 07989 492768
